One day, two great passions of Campania: history and food. Buried under some 20 metres of volcanic material in the eruption of 79 AD, Herculaneum is smaller than Pompeii but astonishingly well preserved.
With your private guide, starting from the entrance of the excavations, you walk through patrician houses, baths and shops, admiring mosaics, frescoes and even wooden structures that have survived for two thousand years, and hear the stories of the people who lived here.
After about two hours among the ruins, a pleasant 15-minute walk takes you to Portici, next to the Royal Palace of the Bourbons. Here you join a small-group cooking class of up to 8 guests: knead your own fresh pasta and layer a classic tiramisù.
Then everyone sits down together to enjoy what you have made, with local red wine, water and Neapolitan coffee: history first, then flavour at the table.
