Sorrento Stable to Table: Mozzarella Show & Ape Calessino

Leave the coast behind and discover the Sorrentine countryside the way locals live it: lemon trees, olive groves and a family farm where cheese has been made by hand for three generations.

The journey begins in the centre of Sorrento aboard our iconic Ape Calessino, the three-wheeled symbol of southern Italy, along scenic country lanes to the farm in Massa Lubrense. In the stables you meet the cows, raised on GMO-free feed certified for the Provolone del Monaco DOP, and learn how their milk becomes some of Campania's finest cheeses.

Then the cheesemakers take the stage for the Mozzarella Making Show, revealing techniques handed down through the family. Taste mozzarella still warm from the whey, ricotta and caciottina, with organic jams, extra virgin olive oil and a glass of local wine.

The experience ends on a sweet note: a ricotta dessert and a traditional limoncello toast, the true flavour of Sorrento.

Itinerary

1. Ape Calessino ride: From Piazza Antiche Mura, Sorrento, through the countryside to the farm in Massa Lubrense.
2. Farm and stables: Meet the cows and discover how their milk becomes local cheese.
3. Mozzarella Making Show: The cheesemakers stretch mozzarella by hand in front of you.
4. Tasting: Mozzarella, ricotta, caciottina and Provolone del Monaco DOP with jams, olive oil and wine.
5. Limoncello toast: Ricotta dessert and limoncello, then the ride back to Sorrento.
